Microsoft’s presentation on the Windows 10 Creators Update makes it very clear that the company sees virtual reality, augmented reality, and holographic computing, as the future of the company. Because of that, it is no surprise that some of Microsoft’s partners will be releasing their own virtual headsets over the course of 2017.
These VR headsets will be creator by some of the biggest names in the PC market. Some of the names that were announced during the presentation includes Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer. While the specifications of the headsets have yet to be revealed, Microsoft did mention that the headsets will come with built-in sensors that provide six-degrees of freedom. The built-in sensors also mean that external sensors aren’t needed for these headsets.
If you’re worried about the pricing and the computer specifications needed to power these VR headsets, don’t be. Microsoft has announced that these VR headsets will come with a starting price of USD299 (RM1,250). Microsoft has also stated that these headsets are designed to work on lower end machines and laptops, so you don’t need a Oculus Rift or HTC Vive-ready computer to power these headsets.
