Micromax, one of the most prominent smartphone manufacturing brands in the land of India, is planning to officially expand its consumer market beyond its country starting next year. Plus, the company is targeting a a spot in the global top five smartphone makers by the year 2020.
According to Android Central, Micromax co-founder, Vikas Jain has stated that the company is eyeing to be the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer globally by 2020, at a conference held in Hong Kong. In order to achieve that, Micromax will counting on the Chinese consumer market as it starts pushing out its phones to China next year. Jain said that the company will require more money to build more networks and acquire other companies to make its phones stand out when compared to competitors.
Although Micromax has managed to surpass Samsung before as the number one smartphone manufacturer in India, the company has been gradually losing out to the Korean OEM along with a couple of emerging Chinese manufacturers. Time will tell whether or not Micromax phones will thrive in China. What do you think?
