Meta is reportedly working on a smartwatch that comes with a camera

Facebook Inc. recently rebranded itself as Meta – the name takes inspiration from the term ‘metaverse’ to reflect the brand’s focus on offering virtual and augmented reality products as a networking tool.

These items include the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, and a pair of Ray-Ban smart glasses. Now, reports are suggesting that Meta has a smartwatch up its sleeves as well.

The upcoming wearable will be called Milan and although existing leaked renders show the product sporting a familiar smartwatch design, we notice a camera lens and module housed along the bottom of the watch face.

The mostly likely use case scenario for the camera would be for video calls – however, we reckon it could be used for unlocking your device too.

We’re not sure how the product plays a role in creating a metaverse ecosystem – unfortunately,  there’s not enough info available right now for us to dissect; but do watch this space as we bring you more more developments in due time.
