We still haven’t got our chance to try out Meizu’s hero device yet, however the company certainly isn’t resting its laurels against other Chinese phone competitors and has announced that the Ubuntu version of the Meizu MX4 will go on sale today at noon time over at Meizu China’s website, the phone is priced at RMB1799 (RM1032) which is the same price as the MX4 Android version.

The MX4 is one of the first smartphones to come preloaded with Ubuntu’s smartphone OS and it is set to make a difference from Android with its advanced architecture based on PCs, while we are thankful to see that Meizu hasn’t loaded the phone up with its iOS inspired Flyme OS, Ubuntu’s user interface brings back memories of the early days of Android, albeit with more modern app icons and we can look forward to custom ROMs for current Android powered MX4s from the folks over at XDA-Developers soon.

If you are in China right now, you should probably keep tabs on http://www.meizu.com/products/ubuntu.html as the company is set to sell the phone in a flash sale model as they’ve mentioned limited units in the poster. Let’s hope the folks at Meizu Malaysia will bring over the MX4 Ubuntu here in time to come.
