Opensignal is at it again with their experience surveys – and we bet Maxis and Celcom are absolutely loving them. In a new experience report, Maxis and Celcom come out on top again, with the former taking pole position in download speeds, while the latter offers the best 4G network availability.

Maxis scored 17.7 Mbps download speeds, while Celcom followed closely at 16.3 Mbps. Unifi pales in comparison with a meagre 5.4 Mbps.

When it comes to 4G availability, Celcom takes the cake with a score of 87.6%, beating Maxis to the punch in coverage across several states in the country including Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sabah.

Opensignal also added a new category, Voice App Experience, to the mix – this measures how well these networks fare during the usage of apps like WhatsApp, Skype and Facebook Messenger while in a call. Interestingly here, Unifi emerges victor with scores of 77.9 and 75.9 in Selangor and Kedah respectively. The playing field is more even here however, as the lowest scoring network in Selangor for this category is 72.6, and Maxis with 72.3 in Kedah – which aren’t far off from the highest scorers.

At this point, Maxis and Celcom must be basking in the free marketing tool that is the Opensignal, while UMobile and Unifi must be absolutely livid. Meanwhile Digi sits cozily in the middle of the pack. Visit Opensignal’s website for the full report.
