LG G7 already planned to feature Snapdragon 845 processor

The LG G6 marked a sign that LG was back in business after its previous G5 flagship failed to make an impact last year. The modular G5 looked revolutionary, but it seemed like LG got the whole modular concept wrong, as proven by the sales performances of the phone itself and its modular accessories.

Nonetheless, the G6, launched earlier this year was a huge improvement over its predecessor, with a beautiful design and an immersive 18:9 display with minimal bezels. But LG’s early 2017 fell short when it came to its internals – the G6 sports a Snapdragon 821 processor, the same one seen in flagships that were launched late last year, instead of the Snapdragon 835 seen in its competitors.

Rumor has it that Samsung struck a deal with Qualcomm beforehand, though the Sony Xperia XZ Premium was the first ever to feature the top performing chipset. LG intends to get ahead of the game for next year as a report has indicated that LG has collaborated with chipmaker Qualcomm for the LG G7 to run on the Snapdragon 845 in 2018.

This is quite the news as we have barely reached the halfway mark of 2017. It appears that Qualcomm is already working with LG competitor Samsung on the rumored chip which is said to feature a 7nm process. But for now, it is uncertain as to whether the Snapdragon 845 chip will be exclusive to either LG or Samsung. Regardless, do take this report with a huge grain of salt.
