Earlier this year, the Lenovo ZUK Z1 was unveiled to the Indian market by the company. The handset sported internals of older flagships, for instance a Snapdragon 801 chipset. It also operates on one of the more well known custom ROM’s out there – Cyanogen OS 12.1. The ZUK Z2 has already made its way to China not too long ago, and it has finally hit the Indian market, without the ZUK branding this time, hence known as the Z2 Plus
Lenovo has followed the foot steps of what most Chinese OEM’s will do, that is to make two variants of a flagship, and the Z2 Plus is a perfect example of the said strategy. Diving into its specs, the Lenovo Z2 Plus features a 5-inch Full HD LCD display, with 441 ppi. The company has also opted for what seems to be the most sought after flagship processor ever – the Snapdragon 820 SoC. Separating the two variants are the memory configurations – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage, both of which are non expandable, meaning that you’re stuck with whatever you opt for.
The Z2 Plus sports a 13MP PDAF rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, equipped with EIS, coupled with a wide angle 8MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The handset packs a 3,500mAh battery and comes with Quick Charge 3.0, which seem more than sufficient for a phone with a 5-inch screen. An added bonus with the Z2 Plus is the embedded sensor processing unit for fitness tracking purposes via the U-Health app.
The Lenovo Z2 Plus will ship with Android 6.0 out of the box and will be running ZUK’s ZUI 2.0. Although Lenovo has rebranded the handset without ZUK’s branding, a “Powered by ZUK” text will still be appearing on the box of the Z2 Plus. The phone will come with a price tag of 17,999 INR (RM1,112.70) for the 3GB RAM model and 19,999 INR (RM1,236.34) for the higher end 4GB RAM model.
