John Romero is a name that many who’ve played games in the 90s would recognized. From being a celebrated developer thanks to Doom and Quake, to being a figure of mockery due to Daikatana, Romero is no stranger to the video game business and the FPS genre. Now though, Romero is thinking of making a comeback, and he has roped in Adrian Carmack, iD software’s former art director, to launch a Kickstarter campaign for a game calleed Blackroom.

In the four minute video on the game’s Kickstarter page, Romero states that the game would “hearken back to classic shooter gameplay.” Aside from “circle-strafing enemies and rocket jumping,” the game’s Kickstarter page also states that Blackroom will have a gameplay feature that would allow you to “influence the environment, your weapons and your enemies.” As for the music of the game, Romero has said that they have recruited “metal composer” George Lynch to create the game’s soundtrack. Aside from the descriptions of the game and some concept art though, very little is revealed about the game.

Curiously enough, Romero has also started a social media campaign that allows you to earn rewards when you submit a selfie of yourself that fulfills the requirements on the Kickstarter page.

The Blackroom Kickstarter will run for 31 days and has a target goal of USD 700,000.
