IFA 2017: DJI announces Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian

At the IFA show floor, DJI has announced an update to its popular Mavic Pro drone, which was announced back a year ago, the Mavic Pro Platinum will now fly quieter with a flight time of 30 minutes, and DJI claims that it is 60% quieter with its redesigned electronic speed controllers and propellers, current Mavic Pro users can also purchase the new propellers to use with their bird, and presumably the battery as well since it should be just a larger capacity one, other than that the Mavic Pro Platinum still has the same 12-megapixel camera that takes 4K videos and sensors from its predecessor. In addition, DJI has also introduced the Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian, which isn’t too much of an upgrade but it comes with a new dark “obsidian” paint (somehow inspired by Apple’s iMac Pro), but what’s pretty obvious here is the chassis of the camera gimbal, which now uses magnesium instead of plastic, complete with an anti-fingerprint coating and electroplated. Lastly, the DJI Spark is also getting a firmware update soon to include a new “sphere” shooting mode that creates a panorama with a fisheye lens effect.

The DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian will be available September onwards, customers can pre-order the drones on DJI’s Online Store starting today, the Mavic Pro Platinum will retail for US$1,099 (RM4,693) and the Phantom 4 Obsidian will retail for US$1,499 (RM6,401).
