The Huawei P20 showed a lot of camera features that put it ahead of the pack, and with DxO giving them the highest score out of all the phones, Huawei has made a pretty good name for its self. However, they are not forgetting about the Mate 10, their stepping stone into the AI world.
Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Group, has confirmed that the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be getting six additional AI-detected scenes from the P20 and will come in its Android 8.1 update but he has been quiet on the other features coming. Manufacturers have been slapping on the term “AI” on anything they can, luring less tech-savvy people into believing that the phones are intelligent computer devices and not just a slab that makes calls and takes pictures. Richard Yu has said that “customers will soon learn who’s doing real AI and who’s peddling Fake AI”. He goes on to add that “Huawei will focus on real things, real AI, as it will become more and more important in the future…These other companies are misleading consumers, trying to cheat them.”
Honestly, we can help but to stand on his side, as companies are calling anything slightly unique AI and some even go as far as to rebrand old tech with an AI label. If Huawei is truly bringing real and truthful AI technology to their devices, then perhaps they are the only company we can trust that will offer true AI to consumers.
