Huawei has definitely been posing as a threat to the dominant Samsung and Apple lately, tailing both the elite duo at third place in global smartphone sales. The company has also announced that it will start selling its handsets to the US market, diving further into the competition. But of course, their devices have proved to be impressive, improving in nearly every aspect over the past couple of years. Huawei has launched the Mate 8 and P9 series so far this year, both powered by the company’s homemade HiSilicon Kirin processors. This time around, Huawei will be moving on to launch a mid-range handset, which also confidently sports a processor which they can call their own.

A teaser image of a rumored Huawei G9, courtesy of MyDrivers shows the device alongside a gold color themed background alongside with a pile of golden leaves? And a couple of what seems to be Ferrero Rocher’s. Also, not forgetting, a bowl of golden apples. While gold isn’t a color to be wowed at anymore, the teaser obviously promotes the premium gold-colored metal build of the Huawei G9. But then again

On the specs side, the Huawei G9 is said to sport a 5.2-inch 1080p resolution display, with a HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC underneath the hood alongside 3GB of RAM. In the camera department, the G9 is rumored to feature a 13MP/8MP shooter pair. The G9 will be coming with a fingerprint sensor as well, and is slated to run Android Marshmallow out of the box. The spec sheet of the handset seems almost identical to that of the recently launched Honor 5C, with the exception of the Honor 5C sporting a GB less RAM. Other rumors also suggest that ther might be a Snapdragon variant of the G9, which will be of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 series, coming at a slightly higher price point. So much for having faith in homegrown processors. The Kirin variant is said to cost 1,688 CNY (RM1,023.26) and the Snapdragon model at 1,900 CNY (RM1,205.12). What do you think?
