Huawei has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone lineup with the launch of the HUAWEI Pura 90s Series, introducing the new HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max and HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro. Announced during the company’s global flagship product launch event held in Malaysia, the new smartphones focus heavily on next-generation mobile photography, AI-powered imaging and refined design while being joined by the HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S and the new HUAWEI MatePad Air.

Carrying the theme “Now is Your Moment”, Huawei continues to build on the Pura Series’ reputation as a camera-centric flagship by combining upgraded imaging hardware with intelligent software features designed to help users capture better photos and videos in almost any scenario.

200MP Telephoto Camera Headlines the Pura 90s Series

Leading the lineup is the HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro Max, which introduces what Huawei claims is the industry’s first 200MP Ultra Large Sensor Telephoto Camera. Built around a large 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor, the telephoto camera supports 4x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation (OIS) and up to 20x HEX Telephoto Video, allowing users to capture distant subjects such as concerts, sporting events and wildlife with greater clarity. It is paired with Huawei’s Ultra Lighting HDR Camera to improve dynamic range and low-light photography.

The HUAWEI Pura 90s Pro also receives significant camera upgrades, featuring an Ultra Lighting Main Camera alongside a new Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera capable of focusing as close as 5cm, making it suitable for detailed close-up photography while retaining excellent versatility across different shooting scenarios.

Complementing the hardware is Huawei’s second-generation True-to-Colour Camera technology, which delivers more natural colour reproduction across varying lighting conditions for more accurate and realistic photos.

AI Photography Takes Centre Stage

Huawei is placing artificial intelligence at the heart of the Pura 90s Series experience with a suite of new AI-powered photography tools designed to make capturing and editing photos easier than ever.

AI Composition helps users frame their shots by recognising scenes and suggesting more balanced compositions, while AI De-Glare automatically removes unwanted reflections when shooting through glass. Editing tools have also been expanded with AI Move, allowing subjects to be repositioned within an image, and AI Remove, which intelligently removes unwanted objects while reconstructing the background naturally.

For group photos and portraits, AI Best Expression combines multiple frames to generate the most flattering facial expressions for everyone in the shot, helping users capture better memories without requiring multiple retakes.

EMUI 16, Enhanced Connectivity and Premium Design

The HUAWEI Pura 90s Series ships with the new EMUI 16 operating system, based on Android 16, bringing a more seamless and connected user experience. Huawei says the latest software introduces improvements across everyday productivity and device interaction, while Celia AI Assistant continues to provide hands-free assistance through voice commands. Users also gain access to Huawei’s growing AppGallery ecosystem for essential apps and services.

Huawei has also enhanced the series’ connectivity capabilities to deliver more stable network performance across crowded urban environments and remote locations, ensuring smoother calls, browsing and content sharing regardless of where users are.

Visually, the Pura 90s Series introduces a fresh colour palette inspired by lifestyle and fashion. The Pura 90s Pro Max is available in Orange Ocean, Blaze Purple, Blush Gold and Graphite Black, with the Orange Ocean model featuring Huawei’s new Dual-Tone Gradient Mid-Frame design. Meanwhile, the Pura 90s Pro comes in Guava Soda, Orange Soda, Mulberry Black and Coconut White, giving users a wider range of vibrant finishes to choose from.

Both smartphones pack a large 6,000mAh battery for extended usage. The Pura 90s Pro Max supports 100W HUAWEI SuperCharge, while the Pura 90s Pro features 66W wired SuperCharge. The Pro Max model also benefits from Huawei’s Anti-Reflection Scratch-Resistant Kunlun Glass, improving durability while reducing screen glare during outdoor use.

Huawei Also Introduces FreeClip 2 S and MatePad Air

Alongside the new smartphones, Huawei announced the HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S, an updated version of its open-ear wireless earbuds featuring a refined metallic design available in Deepsea Blue and Space Silver. The earbuds continue Huawei’s open-ear approach, allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings while enjoying music and calls comfortably throughout the day.

Huawei also introduced the latest MatePad Air, featuring a slim 5.3mm chassis paired with an Ultra-clear OLED PaperMatte Display. Designed for productivity and creativity, the tablet combines PC-level productivity tools with AI-powered features, making it suitable for content creation, note-taking and multitasking on the go.
