HUAWEI attempts to fool consumers with DSLR photos…again

The HUAWEI P40 Pro that was launched just a while back didn’t let us down when it comes to its camera capabilities, but what let us down is HUAWEI’s repetitive attempt to exaggerate the quality of photos taken with the phone by using DSLR cameras.

In a video shared by HUAWEI on Weibo, the company showed a collection of photos that is shot on the HUAWEI phones. However, a Weibo user quickly discovered that one of the photos is taken by a Nikon D850 DSLR camera and can be found on a photography-sharing platform.

HUAWEI then made a statement that one of their editors “made a mistake” and labelled the photos wrongly and the original video was also altered after that. If this is HUAWEI’s first time committing such a mistake, then perhaps we can trust their words. However, this has happened over and over again — leading us to believe that it’s not a mistake, but an attempt to fool consumers.

It’s unfortunate that HUAWEI is still employing such tactics when in fact the P40 Pro already offers impressive photo quality. But it’s also a reminder to all of us that we can never completely trust smartphone brands and it’s always safer to just test things out ourselves.
