Honda Malaysia launches all-new 6th Generation CR-V, starts from RM159k

Today marks the Malaysian launch of Honda’s latest sixth-generation SUV, the 2024 CR-V. Honda is introducing four versions, but currently, only three are available locally: the 1.5L Turbo S, 1.5L Turbo E, and the 1.5L Turbo V AWD. Details regarding the pricing and availability of the 2.0L e:HEV RS hybrid model will be disclosed early next year.

The new CR-V, regardless of the variant, has dimensions of 4,691mm in length, 1,866mm in width, and 1,681mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase. It features LED auto headlights, LED daytime running lights, front LED sequential turn signals, and LED rear combination lights as standard across all models.

Each model has unique elements; the 1.5L E variant includes LED front fog lamps and a hands-free powered tailgate with a walk-away close function, the V AWD boasts chrome tailpipe finishers, and the RS model is equipped with roof rails, black-colored side mirror covers, and an active shutter grille.

The base S model comes with sporty 17-inch five double-spoke wheels in Sparkle Silver, whereas the E and V models sport 18-inch wheels with a similar design and silver finish. The e:HEV RS features 18-inch wheels in gloss black with a resonator for road noise reduction.

Inside, all 2024 CR-V models have a dashboard with a clean-running dash fascia, a three-spoke steering wheel, full-width mesh-covered air vents, and a freestanding infotainment touchscreen. Common features include a 7.0-inch TFT semi-digital instrument display, remote engine start, dual-zone air conditioning with rear AC vents, cruise control, and mechanically-adjustable rear seats. The RS variant exclusively offers a 10.25-inch full digital instrument display.

The base 1.5L S model features black fabric seats, a urethane steering wheel, black honeycomb pattern panel inserts, and manually adjustable front seats. From the E model upwards, there are leather seats and steering wheel, dark brown wood-grain inserts, and a nine-inch Advanced Display Audio touchscreen infotainment unit. The e:HEV variant exclusively features aluminum silver accent inserts, and its upholstery, steering wheel, gear shift lever cover, and door cards have gloss black and red stitching. This model also includes a 12-speaker Bose Premium audio system.

The first three variants of the 2024 CR-V are powered by Honda’s 1.5L VTEC DOHC turbo engine, delivering 190hp and 243 Nm of torque with a top speed of 200km/h. The S model accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 9.7 seconds, while the E and V AWD take 9.8 and 10.4 seconds, respectively.

The e:HEV RS features a 2.0L naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, paired with an e-motor. The engine alone provides 146hp and 190Nm of torque, while the e-motor offers 181hp (135kW) and 335Nm. This variant can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 9.0 seconds but has a slightly lower top speed of 187 km/h.

All models include enhanced safety features like a new 90-degree field of view camera, 120-degree millimetre-wave radar, and updated adaptive cruise and lane keeping assist systems. They also support Honda Connect, enabling various functions through a smartphone app available on iOS and Android.

The 2024 Honda CR-V 1.5L Turbo S is priced at RM159,900, the 1.5L Turbo E at RM169,900, and the 1.5L Turbo V AWD at RM181,900, all on-the-road prices excluding insurance. To celebrate 20 years of CKD production in Malaysia, Honda offers the S variant at an introductory price of RM157,900 for the first 750 units.
