You can now manually tag people’s faces on Google Photos

Google Photos has many great features, and the newest one might delight us all — manual face tagging.

Google has been using its algorithm to automatically tag your friends and family and while 90% of the time it’s proven to be accurate, there are still times where we wished we can just manually tag people. With the new feature, you can add a new tag, edit or even name the tag.

However, manual face tagging still relies on Google’s face detection algorithm. This means that you can’t just manually click anywhere and start tagging if Google doesn’t detect a face. Who knows, Google may the ability to do so in the future.

Google is already implementing a server-side update so you’ll need to be patient if your Google Photos doesn’t support manual face tagging yet.
