Gboard, Google’s latest keyboard, has been a curiosity for many an Android user, considering the fact that the keyboard itself launched on the iOS instead. Well, Gboard will no longer be available only on iOS as it will be coming in the form of an update to Google Keyboards soon.
So what’s so special about Gboard? Well, this keyboard comes with a Google Search Bar built into it, allowing you to search for information while you’re busy typing out messages in a chatroom. The ability to conduct a Google Search on your keyboards also means that you can copy and pull links directly from the keyboard itself, meaning you’ll never need to hop between the phone’s Chrome browser and your messaging app ever again.
In addition to the traditional Google searches, you can also use the search bar to dig through your emoji library. For example, typing in the word “dancer” while your emoji tab is opened will cause the emoji library to display on dancer-related emojis. GIF searches are also possible, allowing you to search and attach GIFs to your messages. However, this feature is limited to apps that support it such as Google Hangouts.
The Gboard update will also be bringing with it a couple of new options that can be found in the keyboard settings. Some of these settings includes an option to have the number row available permanently on-screen, and multi-language support for the auto-correct system. All these and more will be arriving on the Play Store in the next few days.
