The annual Active variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S series has arrived once again. This time, the company faces a tougher task of retaining the same Infinity Display of the regular Galaxy S8, but it seems like Samsung has somewhat succeeded in doing so, hence the Galaxy S8 Active.

The Galaxy S8 Active is as what you would expect, a rugged version of its regular sibling. The first and foremost feature to note is definitely the toughness of the Galaxy S8 Active, with Samsung claiming it to be shatter resistant on top of the usual water and dust resistance. It is of course built out of military grade materials for knocks and shocks.

The display of the Galaxy S8 Active is of the same 5.8-inch QHD display in an 18.5:9 aspect ratio just like the regular S8. But unlike the latter handset, the Galaxy S8 has larger bezels surrounding its display, most notably at the top. The rest of the specs are pretty much the same – a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a rear 12MP camera and a front facing 8MP camera. It also features wireless charging. However, the battery of the Galaxy S8 Active is significantly larger at 4,000mAh.

The Galaxy S8 Active unfortunately still remains as an AT&T exclusive in the US. It also costs the same as the regular Galaxy S8+ at a price of $849.99 (RM 3,642.63).
