Fujifilm introduced the Instax Mini 99 in Malaysia today, heralding it as the company’s most sophisticated instant camera to date. This model includes a novel Colour Effect Dial, providing users with six different effect filters, brightness adjustments, and multiple shooting modes.
The Instax Mini 99 features a retro boxy design with a leather-like matte finish, reminiscent of vintage cameras. It is equipped with a physical lens dial for selecting shooting modes and tactile knobs for adjusting settings.
The camera includes the Colour Effect Dial, which offers six unique filters: Faded Green, Warm Tone, Light Blue, Soft Magenta, Sepia, and Light Leak. These effects are created using internal LED lights that selectively illuminate the film. Additionally, there is a Manual Vignette Switch that adds a vignette effect to photos instantly.
The Instax Mini 99 also boasts four shooting modes to accommodate different environments and creative needs: Indoor Mode for low-light settings, Sports Mode for capturing fast action, Double Exposure Mode for combining images, and Bulb Mode for extended exposure times.
This camera uses a zone focus system with three preset ranges: Macro (0.3m to 0.6m), Standard (for intermediate distances), and Landscape (3.0m to infinity). It also features a self-timer, a flash, and a Base Grip for easy tripod mounting, enhancing its versatility.
Like many of Fujifilm’s contemporary instant cameras, the Mini 99 can connect wirelessly to the Instax Up! app, allowing users to store photos digitally and share them easily.
The camera operates on a removable NP-70S battery, which Fujifilm claims can last through 10 film packs. It does not support in-camera charging, requiring users to use the included USB-C charging cradle. Having additional battery packs available extends the camera’s operational time.
Priced at RM928, the Instax Mini 99 is available only in black. It can be purchased through Fujifilm’s website, its official online store on Shopee, and authorized resellers across the country.
