The developer of the game “Fortnite” known as Epic Games have reported that they are suing a Youtuber by the name of Brandon Lucas for cheating in Fortnite in his videos of his Youtube channel named the “Golden Modz Channel”. Brandon’s Youtube Channel has a total of 1.7 Million subscribers who watches his videos of him playing modified or hacked versions of Fortnite and other games.
According to Epic Games documents, Brandon runs a website and has been accused of not only selling cheats online, but he also promotes and advertises software that enable those who use it to cheat or hack a game. Brandon sells cheats such as aimbot, which allows players to aim their enemies and kill them without having to aim for as much as $200 or more.
After nine of his videos were removed from Youtube following a copyright complaint by Epic Games, Brandon uploaded a video entitled “Golden Modz sued by Fortnite”, where he informs and talks to his fans about the situation that he was in and claim that Epic Games have no evidence of him cheating in his videos.”I’m confused because there’s about a thousand other content creators on YouTube that make Fortnite content.” Adding that there’s also a lot of famouse Youtubers who has done Fortnite videos on hacking and cheating without repercussions but has decided not to mention their names.
In Epic Games statement, they mentioned “When cheaters use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly. We take cheating seriously, and we’ll pursue all available options to make sure our games are fun, fair, and competitive for players.” The case was filed in the Eastern District of North Carolina and Epic Games took over anti-cheat software firm Kamu as part of its efforts to tackle unauthorised modifications to its games.
