You’ve seen the RX 480 back at Computex, now AMD is introducing its brothers today as AMD CEO Lisa Su has revealed the RX 460 and RX 470 at the PC Gaming Show held in E3 earlier today.
As the designations imply, both RX 460 and the RX 470 are a step below the RX 480. The RX 470 is the graphics card that is described to be the ‘ideal card for 1080p gaming.’ Simply put, if you’re just looking for a card that can handle 1080p gaming without needing every setting to be maxed out, the RX 470 will do the job well.
On the other hand, the RX 460 is a card that is targeted at the e-sports gamers. Designed for e-sports games that don’t require huge amounts of graphical horsepower such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike or other MOBAs, the RX 460 is an affordable card that is powerful enough to drive these relatively undemanding games well.
No official pricing was given as to how much the RX 470 or RX 460 will cost, but seeing as the 4GB RX 480 card will cost around USD 199, it is entirely possible that the price of the RX 470 will be around the USD 159 to USD 179 mark. AMD has yet to announce an official launch date for the RX 470 and RX 460.
