DJI’s smallest handheld gimbal, the Osmo Pocket is priced at $349

DJI just launched its newest product which is the Osmo Pocket, the smallest handheld camera that has been made by the company.

The Osmo Pocket is the smallest 3-axis stabilised handheld camera that is only four inches tall and 116g. It has three types of stabilisation integrated in it; gimbal stabilisation, electronic stabilisation and optical image stabilisation. These different kinds of stabilisation contributes the the stability of videos taken so that it’s jittery and bumpy.

The camera of the Osmo Pocket has a 1/2.3-inch sensor and  f/2.0 aperture that can shoot 4K videos with 60fps at 100mbps and take photos with the 12MP lens. Users can also preview the photos and videos through the one-inch touchscreen on the device, and for bigger display, users can always connect the Osmo Pocket to iPhones and Android devices with the suitable adapter. 

The device also has intelligent functions such as ActiveTrack, FaceTrack, Motionlapse and so on. The FaceTrack can track subject’s face in selfie mode whereas the ActiveTrack can track the subject that users’ pinpoint on, so that the subjects will always be in frame even when they’re moving around. On the other hand, the Motionlapse mode can enable the recording of time-lapse videos while it’s in movement, producing smooth moving videos and the 3×3 Panorama mode can capture 9 frames and turn it into one wide picture that can capture both the subject and the scenery.

That aside, the Osmo Pocket has Story Mode and Pro Mode, the former offers various templates that has preset shooting patterns and also camera motions so users will not have to worry about the direction of their video sessions and the latter offers more controls which includes the ability to capture RAW format photos.

DJI also offers various accessories to go with the Osmo Pocket such as a waterproof case for underwater filming, 3.5mm adapter for external microphones, smartphone adapters for iPhones and Android devices, and others like the extension rod, the wireless module, mounts and ND filters.

The Osmo Pocket costs $349 and can be pre-ordered on DJI’s website, but the shipping starts on 15 December 2018.
