Data Internet Selangor launched by state government: Offers users free mobile internet for 12 months

The Selangor government has announced that the Data Internet Selangor initiative will be in full swing for a year and will provide free internet to 70,000 residents in within the state.  

The purpose of this move is to “close the digital gap” between folks of different financial backgrounds, which will include the likes of students, businesses, youth, leaders of the Indian community, single mothers, the indigenous people, and religious leaders to benefit. 

The initiative will start with the distribution of SIM packs that come in three packages – LIFE* (15GB/month quota), Celcom (15GB/month quota) and Unifi (45GB/month quota) – that offer free internet for 12 months; however, if users exceed the quota, they will have to bear the costs on their own. 

Do keep in mind that these free SIM packages are meant for people within a certain financial category only.
