CES 2019: Lenovo Legion Y740 and Y540 get NVIDIA’s new RTX GPUs

Not only did Lenovo bring updates in the ThinkPad series, the company also decided to showcase new products in their gaming-line up, including new Legion laptops.

The Lenovo Legion Y740 and Y540 was shown during CES with better specs than before. Both laptops support Dolby Vision HDR software, though the Y740 has higher brightness with its 500nits display while the Y540 only has around 300 nits. The Lenovo Legion Y740 also offers 144Hz FHD display with optional NVIDIA G-SYNCE technology to avoid screen tears.

Besides that, both laptops also support up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processors, and comes with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and either 512GB SSD storage or 2TB HDD Storage. While the 15-inch model of the Y740 can be upgraded to GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU, the 17-inch model can be upgraded to GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. As for the Y540, the laptop can be powered by GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.

That aside, both the Y740 and Y540 comes with Dolby Atmos Speaker System that has Dolby Sound Radar for moving audio to offer a more lifelike experience, and both the laptops have upgraded battery, now claimed to be able to last up to six hours without the need to worry about overheating thanks to the Lenovo Legion Coldfront dual fan thermal layout.

The 17-inch Lenovo Legion Y740 starts from $1979.99 whereas the 15-inch model starts from $1749.99, available from February 2019. On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion Y540 will only be available starting May 2019 with the starting price of $929.99.

Lenovo also offer gaming accessories such as the Lenovo Legion M500 RGB Gaming Mouse that has ergonomic textured grips with 16,000 dpi, 50g 400 IPS tracking precision and OMRON micro switches. There is also the Lenovo Legion J500 RGB Mechanical Keyboard for those who are looking for new gaming keyboard because this keyboard is capable of offering ultra-fast response time with 104-key rollover.

In terms of audio, the company is now introducing the Lenovo Legion H300 Stereo Gaming Headset and H500 Pro 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset. The former comes with an all-metal design with dynamic 50mm drivers and is light so that gamers can feel comfortable wearing it for extensive hours whereas the latter provides driverless 7.1 surround sound for better gaming experience especially when it comes to shooting games.
