CES 2019: Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga gets thinner, lighter and better

Lenovo has announced their latest ThinkPad X1 products which includes two laptops; the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen and the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 4th Gen.

The X1 Carbon 7th Gen will now come with a visible carbon fibre weave top cover and feature a larger 14-inch display compared to the first ThinkPad X1.  The laptop will also include a new 400 nit FHD display that supports ThinkPad PrivacyGuard which is meant to prevent prying eyes. 

The laptop will also offer a Dolby Vision option and feature a Dolby Atmos Speaker System that consists of four speakers for immersive audio. There are also four far-field microphones that can be used to speak to Cortana or Alexa, which will also provide better audio when you’re speaking in a conference call.

Besides that, it is powered by the 8th Generation Intel Core processor with up to 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD storage. The X1 Carbon 7th Gen is only 14.95mm thin and weighs from 1.08kg. It is claimed to be able to last up to 15 hours and is powered by LTE-A Wireless WAN for file transfers.

Lenovo’s first generation ThinkPad X1 Yoga came in 2016, and now the X1 Yoga 4th Gen is going to come in an all-aluminium chassis with narrower bezels. Weighing at 1.35kg, the X1 Yoga 4th Gen is also a 14-inch laptop that offers the new 400nit FHD display.

It also have the same Dolby Almost Speaker System and four far-field microphones, and it’s also powered by 8th Generation Intel Core processor. The X1 Yoga 4th Gen supports up to 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD storage, and it now supports all docking solutions.

Besides the two ThinkPad X1 laptops, Lenovo also introduced the new ThinkVision P44w. The P44w is a 43.4-inch display with dual integrated USB-C ports to enable two video inputs that can transfer data simultaneously. It also has a smart desktop management software for multiple monitor configurations, and come with VESA Certified DisplayHDR 400 with 450nit peak brightness, offering better colour accuracy and colour contrast.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be available from June 2019, with the former costing from $1709 and the latter costing from $1929. The ThinkVision P44w on the other hand will be available on April 2019 from the price of $1299.
