HDR TVs may already be widely available in stores, but not quite yet with gaming monitors, which is why you should start saving up right now for one, as ASUS and Acer will be bringing you stunning 4K HDR gaming monitors in Q2 this year equipped with NVIDIA G-Sync, that means you get to experience a buttery smooth 144Hz refresh rate on these monitors while enjoying immersive visuals in games, NVIDIA has showed us an unannounced ASUS ROG PG27UQ monitor right here in CES 2017 and the experience is simply different from a standard dynamic range monitor.
While you can’t see properly in camera, the saturation between these two monitors above demonstrates a great difference in display quality, the left without HDR don’t reflect lighting properly and some particles aren’t even noticeable. The ASUS PG27UQ 4K HDR monitor shown to us has 1000 nits of brightness and has a 384 zone backlight, the display covers the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is already use in some professional monitors and shows more colors, which is why you will be able to notice more details on the display while gaming. In conjunction with the announcement of these monitors, NVIDIA is also announcing support for HDR on Mass Effect: Andromeda, which will arrive on PC at 21 March, 2017.
No pricing is mentioned for the 4K HDR G-Sync monitors, but do expect to pay premium prices and we are sure more manufacturers will be making displays like this.
