BLU is back with another affordable smartphone yet again, strengthening its focus on the budget end of the spectrum for consumers. This time, the company has released the Vivo 5R a “refreshed” version of its previous Vivo 5 which was launch early this year in January.
The BLU Vivo 5R has a high end look due to its full metal body, like its predecessor. One of the more notable upgrades from the Vivo 5 is the screen resolution. The Vivo 5R receives a bump in resolution from 720p to 1080p, measuring at 5.5-inches. Underneath the hood lies an octa core MediaTek MT6753 chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, expandable via micro SD. The processing package seems fairly decent for a mid ranger.
BLU has also upped the game when it comes to the Vivo 5R’s camera, but only limited to its selfie shooter. The front facing camera sees an upgrade to 8MP from 5MP on the Vivo 5, and it is equipped with an LED flash which will be a great plus for low light selfies. The rear camera remains at a standard 13MP. The Vivo 5R has a rear fingeprint sensor, which was non-existent on its predecessor. The battery however, remains at the same capacity of 3,150mAh, which is already more than enough for the handset as a whole.
The BLU Vivo 5R comes at a price of $199.99 (RM826.76), which is comparable to the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in Malaysia. The Vivo 5R will be a US-exclusive unlocked phone sold at Amazon. Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
