BBM loyalists rejoice as BlackBerry has finally made BBM Video Beta available to Android an iOS users in Asia-Pacific.
The BBM Video Beta has been available in other regions for a while now, with Asia-Pacific just receiving this feature yesterday. According to BlackBerry, the company has decided to release the feature in smaller markets first in order to adress any issues that might have come up before opening up the feature to more traffic. Despite the Beta moniker, BlackBerry has stated that BBM Video is stable.
For those interested, you can now download the BBM Video Beta off the Android Play Store or the iOS App Store. However, do note that your Android device needs to be running OS 4.4 KitKat or higher, and you iOS device must be running iOS 8 or higher. Needless to say, your contact must also have the app before you’re able to make video calls to each other.
Aside from the BBM Video Beta, BlackBerry has promised that more features will be coming in its next BBM release, which is scheduled to launch this summer. Some of the features that you can expect from the next BBM release includes phone number registration, improvements to group chats, and expanded message retraction for stickers, files, and other content. Android users will be able to share larger videos with their contacts on the upcoming BBM release, while iOS users will have to option to mute chat and group notifications.
