It has been more than 4 months since ASUS first unveiled the first ever Google Tango and Daydream compatible smartphone – the ZenFone AR. Showcased back in CES 2017 earlier this year, there seemed to be no word on this futuristic handset since, till Google hinted its debut date at I/O.

During I/O 2017, Google has stated that the ASUS ZenFone AR will debut some time this summer, which isn’t that far off from now. The ZenFone AR isn’t only the first ever Tango and Daydream smartphone, but is also the first ever smartphone to be powered by a jaw dropping 8GB of RAM. It runs on a slightly older but still high end chipset – the Snapdragon 821. The handset is spec-ed to the brim in many other aspects as well, including its 5.7-inch QHD display, the 23MP rear camera along with a couple of camera sensors for Tango.

Google’s Tango and Daydream technologies are undoubtedly not as popular just yet. The first ever Tango phone was the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, which has been rarely heard of ever since its launch last year. Google will be placing high hopes on the ZenFone AR as the company finally looks forward to its new technologies taking flight. What do you think?
