If you are thinking to buy a new gaming laptop this Christmas, ASUS Republic of Gamers has just launched two new gaming laptops in Malaysia.
The ROG Zephyrus S GX531 was announced back a few months ago and is the successor to the original ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop. Featuring a super slim and sleek body profile of 15.75mm at its thickest point, the laptop has a 15.6-inch display fitted into a 14.2-inch panel size, refresh rate is top notch at 144Hz with a 3ms response time, and it has an all-metal chassis that has passed military-grade standards.
Specs wise, you are getting a Core i7-8750H, GTX 1060 graphics, 16GB RAM and 512GB of PCIe SSD storage. ASUS has made some refinements to the ROG Zephyrus S’ hardware too, it now comes with a loud dual front facing speakers embedded in the hinge cover.
The ROG Zephyrus S features an improved thermal design with five heatpipes internally that dissipates heat from the CPU and GPU, coupled with the two 12V AeroAccelerator fans with 83 blades each, it is 17% more blades than the original Zerphyrus’ fan and now has better airflow all thanks to the shaped aluminum shroud, thermal energy is then channeled along the pipes to four heatsinks and exhaust vents at the rear corners.
Launched alongside the ROG Zephyrus S is the Strix SCAR II GL704, it is the most compact 17-inch gaming laptop the company has ever produced that is being squeezed into a 15.7″ chassis. Unique to the Strix SCAR II is a kevlar and camouflaged-textured design, Aura SYNC RGB lighting and a desktop-style keyboard.
The laptop’s 17-inch display sports an impressive 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time, with a super thin bezel of 7.05mm, this is by far the most impressive 17-inch panel that you will find in the market, this is achieved all thanks to the laptop’s display manufacturer – AUO, the display also covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut so you get vivid colors as you are gaming on it.
In terms of specs, the Strix SCAR II is powered by the Core i7-8750H and has 16GB DDR4-2666 RAM, a 1TB Hybrid hard drive + 256GB PCIe SSD storage combo and GTX 1060 graphics.
The ROG Zephyrus S GX531 and Strix SCAR II GL704 are now available in Malaysia for the price of RM7999 and RM7599 respectively. The first 30 customers to purchase the ROG Zephyrus S between 13th-15th December 2018 will be eligible to redeem a free BP1500G ROG backpack worth RM159 over here.
