When Apple first announced the new batch of MacBook Pros, many noted that the company is dropping all legacy ports in favour of USB Type-C. This decision did not sit well with many iPhone users, as the decision to drop legacy ports means that they would not be able to charge their devices by connecting it to the laptop. In an attempt to please iPhone users, Apple has decided to temporarily drop the prices for its USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 peripherals, as well as USB-C adapters and cables.

Here’s a list of products that will be affected by this price cut:

  • USB-C to USB Adapter – dropped to RM49
  • Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter – dropped to RM139
  • USB-C to Lightning cable (1 m) – dropped to RM89
  • USB-C to LIghtning cable (2 m) – dropped to RM139
  • USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter – dropped to RM229
  • USB C Digital AV Multiport Adapter – dropped to RM229

All of these prices will be in effect until the 31st of December 2016. Once 2017 rolls around, all prices will return to normal. Long story short, if you want to get yourself some adapters, you’ll want to do so before 2016 ends. Regardless, this move by Apple won’t really change much, so you can still expect many more “Apple is a dongle company” jokes to come out for the next year or so.
