Earlier this month, struggling company BlackBerry happened to leak details and specs of the DTEK60 on its official website. Today, the handset has finally been unveiled by the manufacturer, making it BlackBerry’s third ever Android powered smartphone, after the Priv and the DTEK50. The BlackBerry Priv was an impressive product from the company’s first attempt on the Android OS, straying away from its own operation system. The DTEK60 goes a step up from the recently launched DTEK50, with improved specs.
For starters, the BlackBerry DTEK60 sports a larger 5.5-inch display at QHD resolution. Its internals are of flagship standard – a Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15 GHz, 4GB of RAM with 32GB of onboard storage. Internal storage is expandable via a micro SD slot which supports up to a whopping 2TB of extra memory. The camera optics department consists of a 21MP PDAF rear camera with a dual tone LED flash, coupled with a 8MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The DTEK60 packs a bigger battery 3,000mAh battery than the 2,610mAh in the mid range DTEK50. The former supports Quick Charge 3.0 via its USB Type-C port. The DTEK50 on the other hand features an older micro USB port with Quick Charge 2.0 support. The BlackBerry DTEK60 carries a price tag of $499 (RM2,072.57) and is currently available on BlackBerry’s website in selected countries such as the United States, Canada and the UK, just to name a few.
