It was nearly six months ago when Google first rolled out Android 7.1.1 Nougat to its age old Nexus 6 smartphone. To the disappointment of Nexus 6 users, the software update was filled with bugs, rendering it unstable as a public release. This led to Google withdrawing the Android 7.1.1 update for the device, and now the company has once again pushed out the update for the Nexus 6.
Nexus 6 users have been stuck on Android 7.0 for the longest time and Google’s mistake back in March has only extended that long wait after a brief disaster of a buggy update. According to the folks at Android Police, Nexus 6 users can finally enjoy the improvements and updates that come with Android 7.1.1, and hopefully history won’t repeat itself again.
Android Police indicates that the update file size is 367.9 MB, based on the screenshots that were posted up. Nexus 6 users would need to be on Android 7.0 in order to receive the official OTA update by Google.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat will probably be the last major update for the near 3 year old Nexus 6. Launched back in 2014, the second last ever Nexus smartphone is probably still capable of packing a punch in 2017.
