OnePlus seems to be listening to its consumers when they launched the pretty expensive OnePlus 8 lineup this year. There was a call for the brand to go back to its roots by delivering affordable flagships – and it appears that they will be doing so in 2021 with the OnePlus 9 series.
Aside from the full-fledged premium models that will arrive next year, is a more affordable variant of the OnePlus 9 which will pack this year’s Snapdragon 865 chipset. This makes it a bona fide flagship, at least in the performance department, and it’s likely to carry a few other premium features too like an AMOLED display, high-res cameras, and stereo speakers.
The odd thing is, this sounds a lot like the OnePlus 8T, which costs RM2,699 at the time of writing, so it’ll be interesting to see how the affordable OnePlus 9 will up the ante to at least make it a worthwhile investment over the former device.
