Meta’s latest AI glasses are now available in Malaysia, giving local buyers a much broader choice than the earlier generation of camera-equipped frames. The Malaysian range covers Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3), Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2), Oakley Meta HSTN and the sport-focused Oakley Meta Vanguard, with prices starting from RM2,069.

According to local launch information reported by SoyaCincau, the Oakley Meta HSTN costs RM2,069, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) starts at RM2,119, Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) starts at RM2,209, and Oakley Meta Vanguard is RM2,589. Sales begin on 20 October 2026 through authorised Ray-Ban and Oakley stores, Sunglass Hut, A-Look, SEEN and selected optical retailers.

Different frames for everyday wear and sport

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) is the everyday sunglasses option, offered in Wayfarer, Aviator and Zena shapes. Meta says it carries a 12MP camera that records up to 3K video, 32GB of storage, a six-microphone array and an assignable action button. Claimed battery life is up to nine hours, although actual endurance will depend on recording, calls, music playback and AI use.

The Optics line uses Blayzer and Scriber frames built around prescription lenses, with adjustable fit features including interchangeable nose pads and flexible temple tips. Its core electronics are similar to Gen 3, while Meta rates battery life at more than eight hours.

Oakley Meta HSTN is the lifestyle-sport option with a 12MP camera, open-ear speakers and IPX4 water resistance. Vanguard pushes further with a centred 122-degree camera, louder speakers, IP67 protection and claimed nine-hour daily battery life. It also connects with compatible Garmin devices and Strava, allowing workout data to be requested by voice or added as an overlay to captured footage.

The useful part is hands-free access, not just AI branding

The glasses can capture photos and video, handle calls and play audio without earbuds. Meta AI adds scene-aware questions, recommendations and translation, but individual features and third-party integrations can differ by country and language. SoyaCincau reported that Bahasa Melayu support was due alongside the local availability date; buyers should still check the current language list in the Meta AI app before purchase.

For Malaysian buyers, the significance is that these are no longer grey-import curiosities. Authorised local retail and optical channels make fitting, prescription options and after-sales support easier to assess. The camera indicator and privacy implications also remain important: people around the wearer need to be able to recognise when recording is active.

Ray-Ban will run a pop-up at The Starhill Piazza in Kuala Lumpur from 21 October to 1 November. Oakley plans to showcase its AI glasses at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia at Sepang from 30 October to 1 November.
