POCO has launched the new POCO F9 Ultra and POCO F9 Pro in Malaysia, expanding its flagship-focused F Series with major upgrades in gaming performance, display technology, battery capacity, cameras and audio.

The new lineup also deepens POCO’s collaboration with Bose, bringing Sound by Bose tuning to both devices as the brand continues to push further into the premium smartphone segment.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and dual-chip gaming architecture

Performance is the main focus of the POCO F9 Series. The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and is paired with POCO’s dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset, which handles additional visual processing for gaming.

POCO claims the F9 Ultra can reach an AnTuTu score of 4,165,108, the highest score ever recorded on a POCO device. Both models support Smart frame rate technology at up to 185FPS, while AI Super Resolution can be enabled at the same time to improve image clarity during gameplay.

POCO says more than 20 games support 185FPS natively, while another five titles can reach that frame rate through Smart frame rate processing. The phones also include a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, 480Hz 10-point touch sampling and 200Hz gyro sampling for faster input response.

Cooling is handled by POCO’s 3D IceLoop system, which is designed to keep performance stable during longer gaming sessions.

185Hz HyperRGB AMOLED displays

Both models use POCO HyperRGB AMOLED displays with refresh rates of up to 185Hz. The POCO F9 Ultra features a larger 6.9-inch panel, while the F9 Pro uses a more compact 6.59-inch display.

The panels use a full RGB subpixel structure and debut POCO’s new M11 luminescent material, with a claimed peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits in selected scenarios and up to 10,000 nits for HDR content.

POCO has also introduced Xiaomi Vision Care on the lineup, along with TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification for reduced eye strain during extended use.

Design-wise, the F9 Ultra includes a dynamic rear light for calls, notifications, gaming and music. The Aurora Green version of the F9 Pro uses POCO’s first full-panel luminous design, allowing the rear panel to glow after exposure to light.

Sound by Bose and dedicated gaming audio mode

Audio is another key upgrade this generation. The POCO F9 Ultra uses dual symmetrical 1115D stereo speakers alongside a dedicated 1620 subwoofer, creating a 2.1-channel speaker configuration. The F9 Pro uses dual 1115F super-linear stereo speakers with a sealed cavity design.

Both phones support Sound by Bose tuning with two listening profiles, Dynamic and Balanced, while a new Game audio mode boosts footsteps and directional audio cues to help players identify movement more easily during competitive games.

Up to 8,050mAh battery with 100W charging

The POCO F9 Ultra packs an 8,050mAh battery, the largest ever used in a POCO F Series smartphone. It uses 16% silicon-carbon content to increase energy density while keeping the chassis relatively slim.

The POCO F9 Pro comes with a 6,330mAh battery. Both models support 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging, together with 27W wired reverse charging and 22.5W wireless reverse charging.

POCO’s first 200MP camera system

The F9 Series also introduces POCO’s first 200MP main camera setup, complete with optical image stabilisation on both models. Users can shoot in a dedicated 200MP mode for higher-resolution images that offer more flexibility for cropping and reframing.

The POCO F9 Ultra adds a 5x periscope telephoto camera, with 10x lossless zoom and up to 20x AI Ultra Zoom. The F9 Pro instead uses a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera that can focus from as close as 10cm, allowing it to double as a macro camera.

Both phones also feature a 32MP front camera and support 4K video capture with automated focal transitions and smoother lens switching through POCO’s Live cinematography features.

POCO F9 Ultra and F9 Pro Malaysia price

The POCO F9 Series is available in Malaysia from September 1, 2026, with promotional pricing running until September 16 through mi.com and POCO’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.

The POCO F9 Ultra is available in Dark Cherry and Black. The 12GB+256GB model is priced at RM3,599, with an early-bird price of RM3,299. The 16GB+512GB model is normally RM3,999 and is offered at RM3,699 during the promotion, while the 16GB+1TB model drops from RM4,799 to RM4,399.

Early buyers of the F9 Ultra will also receive a POCO Pad C1 4GB+64GB, alongside a two-year warranty, screen replacement coverage within six months, three months of Google AI Pro and three months of YouTube Premium.

The POCO F9 Pro comes in Aurora Green, White and Black. Its 12GB+256GB configuration is priced at RM3,299, with a promotional price of RM2,799, while the 12GB+512GB model drops from RM3,499 to RM3,099.

With the F9 Ultra pushing into RM4,000-class territory, POCO is clearly aiming beyond its traditional value-flagship positioning. The combination of 185Hz gaming, a large 8,050mAh battery, Bose-tuned audio and a 5x periscope camera also makes this one of the most ambitious F Series launches yet.
