POCO has launched the POCO X8 in Malaysia, bringing a major battery upgrade, a larger display and tougher durability to its mid-range X Series lineup. The phone is priced from RM1,299 during its promotional period, making its massive 8,340mAh battery one of its biggest selling points.
Compared with its predecessor, POCO says the X8 offers 63.2% more battery capacity, while also adding faster charging, stronger water and dust resistance, and a larger 6.83-inch display.
8,340mAh battery targets more than two days of use
The POCO X8 is equipped with an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery using 13% silicon content, allowing POCO to pack more capacity into the phone without turning it into an unusually bulky device. The company claims the phone can deliver more than two days of use on a single charge.
Battery longevity is another major focus. POCO says the battery is designed to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, which it estimates is equivalent to roughly six years of regular use. The device has also received TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification.
Charging is handled by 67W HyperCharge, while 22.5W wired reverse charging allows the POCO X8 to double as a power bank for accessories or another smartphone.
Larger 6.83-inch 1.5K display
On the front, the POCO X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K display with narrow bezels and a claimed peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits across 25% of the panel. POCO says the display uses a more efficient luminous material and has also received TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications for more comfortable long-term viewing.
The larger panel should make the phone particularly appealing for users who spend plenty of time watching videos, gaming or browsing on their phone, although it also pushes the X8 firmly into large-screen territory.
IP69K protection and a new Underwater Mode
Durability is another area where POCO has gone unusually aggressive. The X8 carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, while the front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
POCO is also introducing its first Underwater Mode on the X8, designed to make it easier to capture photos in water. The company claims the screen can withstand direct drops of up to three metres under its own testing conditions.
Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and HyperOS 3
Powering the POCO X8 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 mobile platform, built on a 4nm process and paired with an Adreno GPU. It is positioned as an everyday performance chip for app launches, multitasking, gaming and general use rather than an outright flagship processor.
The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and includes Xiaomi HyperIsland alongside Google Gemini integration. Xiaomi Offline Communication is also supported for compatible use cases where conventional network coverage is unavailable, while POCO says the speaker system can deliver up to a 300% volume boost.
50MP camera with OIS
For photography, the POCO X8 gets a 50MP main camera with both optical and electronic image stabilisation, along with a 16MP front camera. Dual video recording allows the front and rear cameras to capture footage simultaneously.
POCO has also included several AI-assisted editing tools, including AI Glare Removal, AI Erase Pro, AI Image Expansion, AI Image Enhancement and AI Beautify.
POCO X8 Malaysia price and availability
The POCO X8 is available in White, Black and Orange in Malaysia from September 9, 2026 through mi.com and POCO’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.
The 8GB+256GB model carries a normal retail price of RM1,499 and will be offered at RM1,299 during the promotional period. The 12GB+256GB variant normally costs RM1,699 and will be available for RM1,499.
At RM1,299, the POCO X8’s combination of an 8,340mAh battery, 67W charging and IP69K-rated protection gives it a rather distinctive position in the Malaysian mid-range market, especially for buyers who care more about endurance and durability than flagship-level processing power.
