Have you ever picked up a phone call that’s silent and you repeatedly said ‘Hello’ thinking that your line is bad, and it just hung up on you a few seconds later? Congrats but nope, your voice identity has possibly been cloned to be used for scams, such as asking money from your loved ones without your knowledge and while it is inevitable that it can happen to anyone, the HONOR Magic8 Pro will soon be able to voice cloning in calls using AI.

Known as the AI Voice Cloning Detection, which will be introduced by the end of this month on top of the already useful AI Deepfake Detection, the Magic8 Pro will be able to identify scammers using a different voice while notifying users that it is a scam. In addition, the HONOR Magic8 Pro will also introduce an AI Scam Number Detection feature to scan incoming calls against known scam databases, further preventing users from getting scammed.

The introduction of AI Voice Cloning Detection comes at a time where scam cases are continuing to rise in Malaysia, as last year alone, the Malaysian police force has investigated over 454 fraud cases involving deepfake technology with reported losses amounting to RM2.72 million. More recently, several clone voice scam calls have caused over RM50,000 loses to two individuals.

AI Voice Cloning Detection will be available on HONOR Magic8 Pro over a software update, and we believe the technology will also come to other devices running on MagicOS 10.
