The Google Pixel 6 series has been confirmed to arrive this October 20 at 1am (or October 19, 10am PT) and the devices will be unveiled via a livestream.

This will bring to the market the first few Android 12 smartphones, as well as the first devices to be equipped with Google’s new Tensor chipset.

Google Pixel TensorIn our previous report, we highlighted that Tensor isn’t a flagship chipset meant to take on the Snapdragon 800-series chips nor Apple’s A14 SoC; instead, it’s a midrange chipset that makes use of AI and machine learning to run Google’s own apps smoothly.

For imaging, the Pixel 6 Pro is expected to run a 50MP main lens, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide shooter. The regular Pixel 6 will omit the telephoto lens while retaining the main and ultrawide cameras.

According to speculative reports, the Pixel 6 will be priced from 649 Euro (RM3,145), while the Pixel 6 Pro will cost at least 899 Euro (RM4,357). These numbers are not confirmed, so we’ll have to wait until October 20 for the official launch and prices.
