As the current situation pushes us towards remote working, Google adds more features to its video conferencing app — Google Meet.

Now, Google Meet users get an extended tiled layout, allowing them to see up to 16 participants at once — previously, only four participants were allowed at one time. In addition to this, Google will also be adding more updates in the future to help bigger companies hold meetings at a larger-scale.

Apart from that, Google is also enhancing the video and audio quality of Meet meetings, and adding the option for users to present a single Chrome tab instead of their entire screen during the presentation. For those who are using the mobile app, Meet will also use AI to switch to the low-light mode when it detects bad lighting conditions.

Noise cancellation is also rolling out in the coming weeks; this will help limit external audio disruptions such as background noise or the sound of your keyboard when you’re typing.

Google also promises that the app prioritizes user privacy and safety and video meetings are encrypted by default. The company is also going to add new moderator controls for enhanced security.
