Chinese manufacturer ZTE has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Project CSX, which stands for Project Crowd Source X. The company went through voting round which involves consumers from across the globe in deciding what the phone will be. The phone carries the “Hawkeye” name, and had its Kickstarter campaign up and running two weeks ago, but little about its specs have been revealed, till today.
The ZTE Hawkeye sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display on the front, along with its eye tracking technology, enabling users to scroll through the phone with their eyes, hence a hands free experience. Underneath the hood is where we discover that the Hawkeye isn’t a high end flagship smartphone, packing a Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, alongside 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.
The Hawkeye features a dual rear camera configuration of 13MP and 12MP with optical zoom, making it yet another ZTE handset with dual shooters on the back. The front facing camera on the other hand, is of 8 megapixels. Below the rear camera setup sits a circular fingerprint sensor. The ZTE Hawkeye packs a 3,000mAh battery, but only supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. It will run Android Nougat software out of the box.
The ZTE Hawkeye can be backed on Kickstarter for an affordable $199 (RM888.04), which sounds like a bang for your buck device considering the eye tracking tech and dual camera setup. The phone also comes with an optional self adhesive case which allows the phone to be mounted on vertical surfaces, further enhancing the hands free experience. The Hawkeye is slated to be shipped to backers in September this year.
