Last year, YouTube introduced implemented a feature to their app that lets users livestream themselves directly from the user’s mobile device in a limited fashion. Today, YouTube is expanding on this mobile live streaming service as the feature will now be available to popular YouTube creators.
For those interested in using the YouTube app’s mobile live streaming feature, you’re going to have to be an active YouTube creator that has over 10,000 subscribers. Assuming you fulfill the criteria, the livestreaming tools will be made avaialble for you shortly. As for everyone else, YouTube promises that the feature will be made available to the general public “soon”.
No drastic changes were made to the functionality of the mobile livestream feature as user will still be able to set custom titles, enable or disable live chat and send notifications to their subscribers. With YouTube finally making its mobile livestream features available to more people, services like Facebook Live will finally have some serious competition on their hands.
