Xiaomi first introduce Black Shark earlier this year as a gaming smartphone to compete with others like Razer, and now they’ve announced the Black Shark Helo, the successor to the Black Shark.
The Black Shark Helo comes with a 6.01-inch 1080p AMOLED display, unlike the predecessor that uses an LCD display. Similarities between both phones include the refresh rate of 60Hz, the Snapdragon 845 processor and the vapor-chamber cooling system. The Black Shark Helo however has an added advantage whereby it also offers 10GB RAM with 256GB internal storage, instead of just the 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and the 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage.
The smartphone also has a dual camera with 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 20MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture while the front camera has a 20MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The back of the Helo has a backlit logo that is customisable up to 8 options and also a fingerprint sensor. It also comes with 4000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0.
In terms of gaming, Xiaomi is offering two controllers for those who purchase the 10GB model while the other versions only get one analog stick attachment. The smartphone also has dual front-facing speakers, like the Razer Phone 2 and the ROG Phone, and allows user to have multiple gaming profiles for their games through the Gamer Studio app. Apart from all that were mentioned, the smartphone lacks a headphone jack which is rather disappointing.
The Black Shark Helo will only be available in black, will cost from RMB 3,199 (RM 1,919.80) and is available for pre-order on the Xiaomi China site.
