Xiaomi has been on red-hot fire so far this year, with launches of impressive products like the Mi 10 series and the Redmi Note 9 series.

The latter competes in the mid-range department and has two horses in the race – the Note 9 Pro and the Note 9 Pro Max. What was seemingly left out of the launch was possibly a more affordable version of the Note 9, the Note 9S, as Xiaomi later announced the gazetted launch date of the smartphone. We say possibly because the ‘S’ moniker could really mean anything, but considering the main variants were the ‘Pro’ and ‘Pro Max’ we doubt the Note 9S could be a level ahead.

The company took to social media to tease the product’s official poster boasting what looks to be a square camera module housing four lenses. The Note 9 Pro Max has a 64MP main lens, while the Note 9 Pro has a 48MP shooter – so it’s unlikely for the Note 9S to sport a camera that has a lower resolution than 48MP.

The bigger two variants come equipped with a Snapdragon 720G chipset – so being the more affordable variant, we could possibly see the Note 9S come with a Snapdragon 600-series chip instead.

Plus, since it’s a Note device, we can expect it to have a large display as well – maybe not the 6.67-inch FHD+ panel we get with the main entries, but maybe something smaller. ‘

It’s not long now until the phone is officially launched in the country – we’ll keep you updated on the latest updates on Xiaomi Redmi’s latest offering.
