Xiaomi and its sub-brand Redmi has been dolling out smartphone launches like there isn’t a pandemic going on – and we’re glad they’re doing that. If not, we wouldn’t have smartphones like the Mi 10, Redmi Note 9 series – and now, the Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom.

These variants improve on the original with a new chipset in the Snapdragon 865 along with 5G support, and a larger 4,700mAh battery.

It still sports the same 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display panel but no punch hole cameras now, as the selfie lens is housed in a pop-up mechanism – something we haven’t seen in a while. Despite being a flagship, the display here only pushes a refresh rate of 60Hz, which is weird since the original K30 supports up to 120Hz refresh rate.

The K30 Pro comes with a 64MP main lens and a 13MP ultrawide shooter alongside a 6MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor.

If you want a telephoto lens, you’ll have to get the K30 Pro Zoom, which comes with an 8MP telephoto lens in place for the 5MP macro shooter. The phone is capable of 3x optical zoom and 30x hybrid zoom. Both K30 Pro phones can shoot videos at 8K resolution, pitting it against the likes of the Samsusng Galaxy S20 series.

In terms of memory configurations, you get up to 8GB RAM with up to 256GB internal storage. The 4,700mAh battery here can be charged with a 33W fast charger too.

The phones are currently available in its native China in grey, purple, white and blue. The K30 Pro is priced from CNY2,999 (RM1,877), while the K30 Pro Zoom is priced from CNY3,799 (RM2,378). It’ll be on shelves this April 4 in China, but there’s now information on the Malaysian availability yet.
