A couple of days back, Xiaomi has launched their latest flagship series – the Mi 5S and the Mi 5S Plus, appearing to follow how Apple names its iPhones. Both handsets happen to have some new features and upgrades from the older Mi 5 flagship, making them worth the upgrade. Xiaomi has reportedly received over 3 million registrations to purchase the new flagship models, which has been released today.
Xiaomi has been known for its fast selling devices, flash sales, and of course, their constantly out of stock products, which apparently occurs frequently due to the high demand for the Chinese manufacturer’s products. 3 million registrations alone in mainland China for the new flagship series has been added into Xiaomi’s impressive track record over the last couple of years. It also proves that both the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus are very much popular in Xiaomi’s home country.
Just to recap, the Mi 5S sports a 5.15-inch Full HD display while the Plus variant features a bigger 5.7-inch screen. Both handsets share quite a lot in common when it comes to their internals – a Snapdragon 821 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM for the Mi 5S and 4GB or 6GB for the Mi 5S Plus, with 64GB or 128GB storage options for the respective memory configurations. The biggest difference is in the camera department where the Mi 5S features a 12MP rear camera while its larger sibling sports Xiaomi’s first ever dual-camera setup with two 13MP rear cameras. Other than that, both phones pack Qualcomm’s new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi has officially released both devices in the Chinese market today. Availability of the flagships outside China has yet to be revealed. Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
