Just like how Redmi became independent of Xiaomi, POCO is also doing the same thing this year. The brand famous for the Pocophone F1 is now a standalone company, separated from Xiaomi.
“POCO F1 is an extremely popular phone across user groups, and remains a top contender in its category even in 2020,” said Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s Vice President. With the company starting its own independence, we should be expecting at least one new device — perhaps the Pocophone F2 — to launch this year.
Excited to share: #POCO will now be an independent brand!
What started as a sub-brand within Xiaomi, has grown into its own identity. POCO F1 was an incredibly popular phone. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own.
Join me in wishing @IndiaPOCO all the best.

Xiaomi first launched the POCO brand to launch high-end, premium smartphones but if the brand is going independent, there might be some changes. After all, Xiaomi also started launching its own flagship devices, which could be why the company did not launch the Pocophone F2 last year.
The head of PCO, Alvin Tse, also said in 2018 that the company has been considering other gadget categories, so we might just be able to see some of them this year.
