Xiaomi took to the stage yesterday to introduce their latest lineup products in their ecosystem, and one of the highlights was the introduction of the global version of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5.
Display
The budget fitness tracker boasts improvements all around including a larger 1.1-inch AMOLED display that pushes a resolution of 126×294 ppi, and a maximum brightness of 450 nits. On this display, you’ll be able to enjoy over 65 themes or watch faces to choose to customize your watch with.
Features
Speaking of customisation, you can fine-tune the function modules that appear on your screen so you get quick access to information that you care about. The watch also now comes with menstrual cycle tracking feature for female users too. The global variant still lacks NFC however, so that’s a bummer.
Under the hood, the watch comes with an “optimized” PPG (photoplethysmography) for better heart rate tracking. The Mi Smart Band 5 packs a 120mAh battery that Xiaomi claims has a 14-day standby battery life. The best part is, the watch now charges using a magnetic charger which doesn’t require you to remove the watch from the band, which was necessary on previous models.
Price and availability
The watch supports Bluetooth 5.0 and run on Android 5.0 and iOS 10 smartphones and above. You can get the strap in several colours including yellow, mint green, orange, black and teal. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 retails at €39.99 (RM195); however, the local pricing and availability is yet to be announced, so we suspect the watch to cost a little less when it arrives here.
