Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has once again impressed us at its Beijing launch event today. The company has unveiled the Mi Notebook Pro, which features 8th gen Intel Core processors, plus the even more near bezel-less display Mi MIX 2 with all round flagship specs. The Mi Note lineup by Xiaomi used to be of flagship standard. The Mi Note 3 on the other hand, sports a mid range processor, but the rest of its spec sheet sure screams premium.
First off, the Mi Note 3 is housed in a glass chassis, with a 4-sided curved glass body, which will make it much more sleeker looking than its predecessor the Mi Note 2. The overall size and the display size of the handset is being compared to none other than Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. The former device sports the same 5.5-inch sized display as the iPhone 7 Plus, but is relatively smaller than Apple’s 2016 flagship in terms of form factor.
Underneath the hood is an impressive mid range Snapdragon 660 processor, with a whopping 6GB of RAM, which is slowly becoming a norm among smartphones. The Mi Note 3 comes in either 64GB or 128GB storage variants, more than sufficient for the average user.
The Mi Note 3 is yet another one of Xiaomi’s smartphones that features the same dual camera setup as the company’s Mi 6 flagship, with two 12MP sensors for capturing images with blurred background and bokeh effects. The setup is capable of 2x optical zoom, and equipped with OIS for better lowlight shots. The front facing camera of the Mi Note 3 is nothing less than impressive as well at 16MP. This camera features Xiaomi’s Adaptable AI Beautify, along with facial recognition unlocking features. The phone packs a 3,500mAh battery which sounds more than enough for the whole package.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 definitely sounds like the device you should get if you’re looking to get a near flagship handset at a non-flagship price point. The Mi Note 3 begins with a price tag of CNY 2,499 (RM 1,611.34) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant, making it a no brainer for that price. What do you think?
