The current Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship is a fantastic value-for-money device that ticks many boxes – performance is one of them. In Malaysia, it’s paired with a Snapdragon 855 chipset is 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage – the phone performs well enough with this configuration, but it looks like Xiaomi is planning to do one better by introducing a new variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The new model is set to be introduced in China – but of course for them, the only upgrade would be the extra internal storage. It is priced at 3,299 Yuan (RM1,958) – cheaper than the current 6GB + 128BG model which is priced at RM1,999.
Although China will get to buy the new variant tomorrow, it is unsure if it will arrive in Malaysia at all, but if it does and has a similar price tag or not too much more, we can see it selling like hotcakes.
As a refresher, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is a 6.39-inch device with a Samsung AMOLED display, a triple rear camera setup (48MP mian + 12MP telephoto + 16MP ultra-wide lens), a 3,300mAh battery, fingerprint unlock and support for wireless charging.
