Following the launch of the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi continue the festivities by launching its own VR headset: the MI VR.

Sporting a sleek white design, the Mi VR is said to have a sports hardware level motion sensor in the headset. This sensor is complemented by a 9-axis internal motion controller. Aside from the sensors and controllers found in the headset itself, the Mi VR will also come with a Daydream-like remote control. For latency, Xiaomi has designed the Mi VR to have less than 16ms of latency, a figure that Xiaomi claims is their benchmark when it comes to providing a suitable VR experience.

On the content side of things, the Mi VR will launch alongside 500+ panoramic videos and 30+ VR apps. Xiaomi is going long haul with its VR platform as well, as the company announced that over 200 developers will be developing content for the Mi VR.

Before you go out of your way to buy one, do note that the Mi VR will only be compatible with the Mi Note 2, the Mi 5, the Mi 5s, and the Mi 5s Plus. If you have any of the phones mentioned, then you’ll need to drop CNY199 (RM120) for the Mi VR headset itself.
